Pop-up student fashion market comes to Portobello Road
Wow, check out these designs. They wouldn’t be out of place in Vogue magazine, and they’re part of what will be on offer from Saturday 16th October during “Fresh Fashion Flash”, a pop-up market filled with fresh, new fashion and accessories, designed by fashion students and graduates.
The market will take place every Saturday and Sunday for one month, the aim being to enable a new generation of talent to promote and sell their collections, while giving shoppers at Portobello Market the opportunity to discover and support young designers.
The market has always supported up and coming talent and has been the launch pad for a number of successful designers including Tamara Mellon, Sass & Bide and Anna Lou of London.
The stalls are being given to the participants free of charge and the pop-up market could become something more permanent if it is a success.
“The fashion industry is highly competitive, so we want to give young designers a chance to get their designs seen by the public and to experience selling in a market environment.” said Maurice Nixon, Market Owner. “It’s important to support up and coming talent and we think Portobello Market is the perfect place to nurture creativity and showcase unique fashion”.
And of course, the new Notting Hill Shopping Bag designed by Natalie Imbruglia will also be available to buy at the market – they’re limited edition, so get yours quick! The nearest tube to the Pop-up market is Ladbroke Grove.
